Plant
Identification -- Floating
Aquatic Plants |
| Plants with leaves that float
on the surface and are rooted on the bottom are included
in this category. Free-floating surface plants that
derive their nutrients directly from the water through
the cell wall or by means of a well developed root
system are also in this group. Water is critical for
support of the plant or its leaves. |

| ATTENTION: Recommendation
Factors Many factors have been considered in our
recommendations such as effectiveness, toxicity,
environmental impact, ease of application and economics.
Alternative control methods may be necessary due to
water use restrictions. Plant distribution within the
U.S. is shown on shaded maps accompanying weed pictures.
Most of these plants, or closely related species, are
found world wide. Alternative control methods are listed
alphabetically, not in order of preference. |
