AQUASHADE
Is Aquashade safe for fish?
Aquashade is not toxic to fish. However, if this product is used in a pond that has low oxygen levels, it can cause the oxygen levels to drop to levels that are inadequate to support fish. Plants and algae are producers of oxygen. By suppressing their growth, the oxygen produced is also decreased.

Will Aquashade kill algae?
Aquashade is not an algaecide. It is designed to prevent the growth of aquatic plants and algae. If a pond is heavily infested with algae or weeds, then it should be treated first with an algaecide or herbicide. Aquashade can then be added to maintain the pond or lake.

How can Aquashade be removed if it is spilled?
Chlorine or bleach can be used, or any oxidizing agent. Other oxidizing agents include hydrogen peroxide, and monopersulfate.

How often do I add Aquashade?
Take a sample of the treated water shortly after the application of the product. Set the jar aside in a place that is devoid of sunlight. When the color of a sample taken from the pond is lighter than the original sample, more dye should be added.

If the treated water is used to irrigate close to a building, will it stain the wood?
At the label rates it should not cause any structural staining.

Can I use Aquashade in my lake if I draw that water into my house?
No, this product is not labeled for use in water that will be consumed by humans.

Can domestic animals drink from water that has been treated with Aquashade?
Yes, there are no restrictions for animals drinking from the treated water.

Are there any swimming restrictions?
There are no restrictions for swimming.

What is the difference between Aquashade and other pond colorants?
Aquashade is the only aquatic dye that is registered as a pesticide. It is categorized as a pesticide because it inhibits the growth of unwanted plants and algae. Other aquatic dyes or colorants are designed to color the water.

Can I use Aquashade in my pool?
Chlorine and bromine will oxidize the dyes in Aquashade, therefore it should not be used in a pool.
